Pass Conditions and Weather Links:

FIRE SAFETY

Forest Service regulations govern the lighting of campfires at Camp Zarahemla. Campers can light outdoor fires only in designated fire rings. They must keep water or sand buckets near the fire ring and must extinguish their campfires each night.

The woodstove in the lodge is not to be used for cooking. Guests who are using the woodstoves must clean out the ashes at the end of their stay. Guests are responsible for keeping woodpiles neatly stacked and free from trash, debris and sharp objects.

Firecrackers and explosive devices are prohibited. Cans or other foreign objects must not be thrown into the stoves or campfires.

Hot, dry summer weather can create very hazardous fire conditions. Guests should be especially careful with matches and campfires under such conditions. The Fire Service may ban fires under dry conditions

SANITATION

Shirts, pants and shoes must be worn in the main part of the camp and on the main floor of the lodge. Shoes are to be taken off before going into the sleeping lofts.

All guests are responsible for cleaning up after themselves. Guests who stay more than one night are expected to clean and disinfect the restrooms they use. Those who rent the lodge must sweep or vacuum and mop the floors.

Campers should take proper precautions when preparing and storing food. There are no refrigerators in the cabins or campsites, so guests shall provide for their own food storage. Food and live bait must be kept in tightly covered containers so as not to attract rodents or insects. Leftovers and other "wet" garbage should be sealed in plastic bags and taken to the dumpster immediately. Hikers should carry Ziploc bags for disposal of litter.

SABBATH OBSERVANCE

Sunday is sacred to the Latter-day Saints.  The Office is Closed.  There will be no check-ins or checkouts on Sunday, and work at the camp will be restricted to necessary cooking and cleaning. Recreational activities are not allowed in camp on Sunday.

Groups

Group leaders may contact the registration by using the online registration form or by E-mail or  US mail (Camp Zarahemla, 13260 Tieton Road, Naches WA. 98937) to reserve the camp. LDS youth leaders must make their reservations a year in advance to guarantee the dates they wish to use the camp. When the caretakers set up the annual calendar in January, they will call the group leaders and confirm the dates of their camps. At that time, each group leader will be expected to send a nonrefundable $150 deposit to Camp Zarahemla.

LDS youth camps take precedence over other activities. Once these camps are scheduled, other groups may reserve all or part of Camp Zarahemla for their scouting activities, conferences, family reunions, etc. Each group must have a designated leader who will be responsible for signing all forms and paying all fees.

2003 Calendar available for reservations. 2004 Calendar reservations now available for Stake Young Women Camps and Youth Encampments.
Please Note:
Reservations for 2004 Calendar will be open May 1, 2003 for Stake campouts and on August 1, 2003 for Wards and Family.

Each group shall also have a priesthood leader to supervise all activities. For groups without a priesthood leader, the caretakers will provide such leadership by prior arrangement. There must be one adult leader for every five children under the age of twelve and one adult leader for every eight youth under the age of eighteen. Every non-family group that includes young people must have a minimum of two adult leaders, regardless of the group’s size.

All signed forms, releases and fees must be received at Camp Zarahemla one week before the day of arrival or the group may lose its reservation.

Check out time for everyone is 9:00 am Mondays only for the months of June, July and August to allow the Stake Girls Camps to set up and check in Monday morning.  Stake Girls Camps may check in earlier then one p.m. on Monday for the start of their camp.

Check-in time for each group will be after one p.m. as arranged by the group leader and the caretakers. At the check-in time, the group will meet the caretakers at their home for final registration and instructions. The caretakers ask that groups not arrive before one p.m., though exceptions may be made with advance notice. The group leaders must arrive and the group must check in with the caretakers before setting up camp.

Guests are not to leave without following the checkout procedures outlined in this booklet and posted around the campsites. Guests who do not leave their areas as clean as they found them will be charged $15 per man-hour for the cost of cleaning. Guests who damage camp property will have the cost of repairs charged against their deposit. The caretakers will inspect each camping area before check-in and during checkout times, recording the conditions they find.

Families and Individuals

Families involving more than twelve members are considered a "group" and should follow the procedures above. Smaller family units may reserve campsites, cabins or the lodge by phone or e-mail or on a drop-in basis, subject to availability. Families can register and pay in advance or at the time of arrival. A deposit will be required.

Every family shall have a priesthood leader to supervise all activities. The caretakers will provide priesthood leadership by prior arrangement for families and individuals who do not have their own.

Families who rent cabins or campsites may use the on-site cooking areas provided. Restrooms are provided in two locations, and there are showers in one restroom building for the use of the guests.

Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests may check the web site calendar or contact the caretakers about the availability of campsites or cabins. The camp is usually busy during school vacations, but it is not usually busy on regular weekends in the fall, winter and spring.
